potentially dumb question: if your muse’s real is born early in their year (so in jan or feb), do you have them familiar to both the year before and the year they’re born, or only one or the other?

My understanding is that they go by the lunar calendar. So a Jan or Feb is a hyung to say an October in the same Gregorian year.

they're familiar to the year before the year they're born!

for example: if someone is born jan of '96, then they'll be friends with the '95ers and the later born '96ers will address them as hyung/noona/unnie/oppa.

the early birthday rule did get abolished for the 2003ers and the years the follow, though.

usually the year before, because it's the year of the class they went to school with. but sometimes a real's bandmates or friends are good indicators and they might still call the older bandmate by an honorific or consider themselves part of their birth year's ageline.

for example 97line has early 97ers but afaik doesn't include any early 98ers. some early 98ers they're close to call some of the 97ers hyung, and others don't. basically do whatever lol unless the real indicates a preference.

it's not a hard rule in practice and really depends on the individual and their friends. it may not even be limited to a jan/feb birthday

eg i played a face born in early april 91 who talked to her close bandmate born later in the previous year without honorifics, but also interacts with her other 91 line friends as chingus.

just pay attention to how your muse's real interacts with their bandmates and you should be covered

i don't know or care about new idols so since someone mentioned '91 i'll use them as an example. goo hara was born in january, so she would be considered noona/unnie to the rest of the '91 line.

except she let nicole call her hara and not hara unnie, so it's not a hard and fast rule

it's up to the individual no matter what the case is. but if you're going by what they 'should' do, a january birth makes them an elder to the rest
