any decent person will want to help when someone posts on a public forum using obviously depressive language, stranger or not, and even if op didn't want or appreciate the advice, there was no need to be an asshole about it. clearly it triggered him, though, which tells me it was advice he definitely needed to hear but no one in his life had the guts to say it to his face.
